Built from Both Sides of the Table

Tim Montgomery founded TIMIT Solutions in 2012 after a career most executives only get half of — first as a CIO buying and overseeing IT services for major corporations, then as a senior executive selling and delivering those same services globally.

That dual vantage point is rare. It means Tim can sit across from a mid-market CIO or CEO and read the room from both sides: knowing what a good partner looks like, what a bad one sounds like, and exactly how to keep providers honest.

The decision to start TIMIT was deliberate — a chance to stay close to family, focus on the work that mattered most, and bring enterprise-grade thinking to mid-market companies that deserve it but rarely get it.

"I know the games that get played between clients and service providers. That means I can stop them in their tracks — for both sides."

Tim holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Union College (Schenectady, NY), an Executive MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY), and a Certificate in Global Business Leadership from U21 Global and Harvard Business School Publishing.

He has served on three boards: the GE Elfun Society, the Latam Alliance, and its successor the Nearshore Executive Alliance (part of SIG) — recognition of his leadership in global IT sourcing strategy.

From Computer Operations to Global Business Leadership

Tim's path spans every side of the IT industry — internal IT leadership, global services delivery, and independent advisory. Each chapter added a layer that directly informs TIMIT's work today.

Recruited to build a US co-location, hosting, and staffing startup from scratch — an entrepreneur's assignment inside an established enterprise. Delivered under a one-year contract in Reading, PA.

2007 – 2012

Satyam, Virtusa & CIBER — Sell-Side Global Services Leadership

Personal Involvement. No Junior Substitutes.

Mid-market companies face a frustrating reality: the consultant who closes the deal often isn't the one who shows up to do the work. At TIMIT, Tim is the engagement. Every assessment, every advisory session, every recommendation carries his direct attention and accountability.

That philosophy shaped the deliberate focus on mid-market — where C-level decision makers are accessible, the work is meaningful, and the impact is real. Large enterprises reward scale over expertise. Small businesses rarely match the complexity Tim's career was built for. Mid-market is the right fit on every level.

Hard Work, Kindness, and Never Giving Up

Tim grew up one of six kids, shaped by a father who modeled hard work and quiet kindness. Those values took root early — at 11 he was working 40 hours a week at a fruit stand during summer vacation. His senior year he spent in Sweden on a Rotary International Exchange. He came home and founded a chess club at Adirondack Community College, then started the Adirondack Regional Camaro Owners Club.

The same instinct to take on challenging assignments and show up fully has defined every chapter since. It's the same thing he tells his daughters: you can be anything you want — if you never give up.

September 2025 — Camino Portuguese

Tim walked his first Camino alongside his wife and daughter Cat — and plans to continue long-distance hikes in the years ahead. A reminder that the most meaningful journeys are walked step by step, in good company.

What Recharges Tim

  • Family — always the center
  • Camping in all four seasons
  • Hiking and long-distance trails
  • Fishing — summer and ice
  • Chess — a lifelong discipline

The same clarity Tim brings to client engagements is sharpened by time outdoors and at the board — deliberate, patient, always thinking several moves ahead.
